Hi,

How come when I create a Powerpoint presentation on my Mac, and then
present it on a PC, small text where all of the pictures WERE appears
that reads QuickTime and a decompressor are need to see this picture.
Does this mean I need to install QuickTime on each PC that I present
my presentation on and what is a decompressor? Thank you!

Hi,

That is because the QuickTime support in all Windows versions of
PowerPoint is crappy. They user their own QuickTime API instead of
Apple's and since the developement of that API stopped sometime in the
90s, we don't get most of the interesting codecs such as h.264 and
MPEG4. The best you can hope for is Cinepak.
Does this mean I need to install QuickTime on each PC that I present
my presentation on and what is a decompressor? Thank you!

A decompressor is the word MS use for codec - the part that interprets
your image/movie format.

That's a great explanation. Additionally ...

Basically, if you drag or copy/paste pictures into a Mac PPT, you will
have this problem. Instead, you should reinsert the pictures using Insert
Picture > From File (through the menus). As Morten pointed out, it's
stupid that what you did didn't work, but it's the way it is.
