Greetings,

I can't figure out how to change the default set-up for my notes master
in PP2004 for my mac...I want to avoid changing the notes master for
every new presentation

Hi,

From the VIEW menu choose NOTES PAGE.

Then the FORMAT menu changes and lets you format layout, color scheme,
and background. You can make notes very nice looking.

Thank Jim - I have done that, and want to avoid doing that every
time...I need to know how to save my custom changes so that the format
for the notes page is the same (customized) version for every new
presentation (preferably without having to open a saved blank file with
these changes made)?

Keep it coming...

Hi again,

One way is to follow the steps in this PowerPoint help topic:
"Create a design template." You can save these so that they appear in
either My Templates or in Design Templates. If you put them into the
Design folder they will also appear on the formatting palette.

Here's a link that explains how to change the default template that
powerpoint uses when it opens a new presentation:
"Create a default "blank" presentation with your own defaults"
http://www.rdpslides.com/pptfaq/FAQ00245.htm

Essentially you make a template and name it "Blank Presentation" (leave
off the .pot extension) and put it into the
Templates>Presentations>Designs folder.

OK - I've tweaked a blank the way I want it, saved it as Blank.pot in
My Templates folder (the default location), but in PP 2004 for Mac,
while I can open this file and start, it is not being opened as the
default. There is no option like the one described for pp2003 on the
link provided. How do I assign this blank as the one that opens for
all new presentations?

Just a little more help? Thanks much...

Hi,

The file name has to be exactly:
Blank presentation

Remove the .pot extension

It has to go into the
Microsoft Office 2004>Templates>Presentations>Designs
folder.

Before you begin you might wish to rename the existing Blank
presentation in case you want to use it some day.
