MAC to PC increased file size????

Hi,

I have created a 2 page letterhead template on a MAC. Each page has a
small logo on it. File size is 64k. I have sent it to my client via
email zipped and just plain. When he gets it he says file size is 1.5
megs.

Any ideas why?

Thanks,

Nanci

Dear Bob,

Thank you so much for your reply.

I used insert>pictures and I used tiff files. There are two different
logo files because one is for letterhead that includes the address
because is close to the logo, and the other one is a smaller logo for
the 2nd sheet.

Do you think it would make any difference if i saved the tiff files as
for PC? i believe photoshop will give me that option with tiff files.
Would jpg be better?

Any other suggestions would be helpful.

Thanks.

Hi Nanci -

What you're referring to is the distinction between PC & Mac *Byte Order*
which has nothing to do with file size, I'm afraid. In fact, it's really not
even a relevant option any longer (in most cases). You could use the option
for LZW Compression, but that wouldn't reduce the size as much as you might
like & could cause some other issues further down the line.

The best bet for docs to go back & forth is PNG. The only reason I would use
JPEG is if there are significant gradients or photographic components to the
logos. The typical logo will do just fine as a PNG & be a more stable &
reproducible image, as well as a small file size.

Hi Bob,

Thanks. The logo is just black type with a green solid box, so i will
give png a try.

Thanks again,

Nanci
