Mac to PC: Viewing movie controller

I have a file with an embedded mpg file, created under PowerPoint X (first
incarnation!) When I created it there was a palette that allowed me to see a
QT style controller. However, playing it on Ppoint 2000 on the PC gives the
movie and no controller. This means I can't rewind it if necessary - If the
students don't understand I have to restart the whole thing.

Am I missing something obvious - or is this a feature?

Thanks

If I understand what's going on correctly, it's a side effect of the way PPT
handles movie files. Or rather, doesn't.

PPT doesn't handle them on its own; it hands them off to whatever application
the system provides for playing these things back. On the Mac, that'd be
QuickTime, which accounts for why you see the QT controller.

On the PC, something called the MCI player generally handles movies; it doesn't
display any controls normally.

You might be able to reinsert the movie as an object in PPT2000; by inserting
as Video Clip, I was able to get start/stop and a position slider control

I'd like to know how you got the controller. I can only get the
controller in the edit view (I use version X also). I started making
an action link to my movie files so they open in QT, I can easily
resize here too. On a mac a quick control-tab gets me back to ppt.

Damn! You're right! It is the same(lack of) feature as the Windy version.
What a stupid idea ...

Oh well ........
