Mac to PC Word doc size issues.

So on my iMac, I create a letterhead, throw text on it, save it and it's around 648KB. When I send that same file to someone else who has a PC, when they open it and check the properties it's around 27MB. What's with the file size increase? I've created brand new documents, tried re-saving old ones, and the same thing happens each time. When someone on a PC opens the file it explodes to a huge size. Why is that? Any info on this would be most helpful. Thank you.

Created a letter-head using what graphics format?

Any format other than .PNG or .GIFF is going to be re-ripped on the PC into
a 24-bit .BMP. If your Letter Head is the size of a full page, then yes,
the bitmap will end up at about 27 MB on a PC.

Sorry: Mac Word and PC Word are just not very compatible when it comes to
cross-platform graphics.

The only thing I can suggest is that you try to minimise the damage by using
small .PNG or .GIF files for graphics. Don't use graphics at all if you can
avoid it. And create the file on the PC. The bug seems to be less vicious
when the conversion is done in the other direction.

Sorry to be no help at all...

Cheers
