mac to windows

Hello ,

I have a Mac with OS 10.1.5, I also have a PC with Win xp.
I am having trouble opening word documents on the PC that
I wrote on the Mac version of word. Does anyone know how
I can open a paper on the PC that I wrote on the Mac.

Word versions are generally compatible between platforms unless they are just
too "far apart", if you know what I mean. What versions do you have? What's
the problem?

Hi Kevin,

Have you tried opening the docs using File> Open from within WinWord, as
opposed to double-clicking on them? You do have Office/Word installed on
your PC, right?

First, make sure the Mac Office file has the ".doc" extension. If that's
missing, the PC may not identify it as a Word file.

Second, you can try saving the Mac version as an RTF (make sure the file
name has the ".rtf" extension).

Backward compatibility goes, I believe, to Word 6.0 (an abomination).
