We have a situation where a user was receiving documents from someone in Mac
Word 10 format and she says she was able to open them as they came in a
couple of weeks ago. Now, when she receives the documents they open up as
garbaged text. Trying this on other machines on our network I get the same
results except sometimes it will pop-up the file conversion dialog (which
none of the choices works). We can use a conversion product to convert the
files, but the fact is Word 2003 used to open the files. I have also found
that the Open Source word processor opens the files fine. The files will not
open with Office 2007 either. The only machine in our environment that will
open them is a test workstation off the network. Any idea what might be
missing from our Word installs to enable converting a MAC Word file on Open?
