MAC - WORD 2001 - MENU BAR PROBLEMS

Hi

I have an absolute nightmare! I use Office 2001 on my iMac and iBook. The
iMac is fine but the ibook (G3 Graphite - OS 9.2.1) is playing up BIG TIME!
It was fine until a week ago then suddenly when I started it up the top tool
bar was there but 'empty' except for the FILE and FONTS - BUT - the FILE
menu although it looked perfectly OK, had most of the functions that should
have been on the rest of the top menu bar when you scrolled down and chose a
function !!!! If you went to save it crashed. NOW the program crashes when
you click on anything in FILE menu. You can only open WORD files from the
documents file on the hard drive - NOT directly from WORD.

I have tried re-installing OFFICE 2001 but nothing has changed. It is
possible that I didn't uninstall it properly as I wasn't asked for the
key/code number when I loaded it - I am not a mac boffin and don't
understand the jargon!

Please rescue a damsel in distress!!! Any help will be appreciated!!!

First, re-installing an application is a Windows solution that almost
never works with Macs. I can count on one hand the number of
applications that have ever been corrupted on my machine or any others
I've worked with.

Second, uninstalling Office 2001 without running the Remove Office
application, downloaded from Mactopia:

http://www.microsoft.com/mac/downloads.aspx

is essentially useless since you don't get rid of all the preference and
hidden files (which is why you didn't have to re-enter your CD Key).

Third, loss of menus in Office 2001 is a rather FAQ. See
