Macro-enabled Templates with custom toolbars, going forward

Re: Macro-enabled templates that contain custom toolbars when we migrate from
Word 2003 to 2007 (both XP).

It's the custom toolbars I'm worried about. Will I have to create quick
access UI for each macro-enabled template to replace the custom toolbar?

It would have been better to post a follow up to the orignal
message as I'm not too clear on what you're talking about.

Do you know you can add your own tab to the ribbon?

This was my original message; I can see that I can customize the UI for
normal or global dots, but it looks like I have to customize quick launch
ribbon for each macro enabled template that has a custom toolbar in Word
2003. I'm very confused.

Does this make any sense yet?

Thanks.

When, with Word 2007, you use a template that was developed in Word 2003
that contains custom toolbars, the buttons from that toolbar will appear in
the Add-Ins tab of the ribbon and should still perform the function that was
originally intended of them (unless it happens to be one of the features
that is no longer supported in Word 2007).

Yes, thank you Doug! Much relief.

PMFJI, but this seems to relate to my problem.

We have several company-wide Word templates that were created in Word 2003
and have custom toolbars. The templates are stored in a folder on a network
drive. As you say, when a document based on one of these templates is opened
in 2007, the toolbars appear in Add-ins and continue to function.

I just edited a macro in one of the templates, using Word 2003. When I open
a new document based on the template and run the edited macro from the
toolbar using 2003, the edited macro works as expected.

When I open a new document based on the very same 2003 template in 2007 and
run the macro from the legacy toolbar (macros are disabled and the toolbar
appears in Add-ins), the old, unedited code runs.

If I then "Enable this content," in the 2007 document (Add-ins tab
disappears eliminating access to the legacy toolbar) and run the macro from
the Developer tab, the correct macro runs. How do I get the legacy toolbar to
run the correct macro?

Thanks!

Assuming the macros are stored in the document template itself and not in
the Word 2003 normal template, save the template in a trusted location and
you should see both the toolbar and have access to the macros.

Thanks, Graham. I'm reading up on Trusted Locations now & will give this a
try asap. I've shared your response with our network admin and asked him to
look into making our company templates folder a predefined trusted location,
too.

For some reason, I can't seem to select Graham's reply above, but assigning
my templates to a Trusted Location did indeed resolve my problem. I've been
locked out of the Discussion Groups at my end for a while and couldn't reply.

Situation Resolved! Thank you!
