Macro error msg when using menu buttons

K

Kathy

All of a sudden whenever I try to use the Save or Save As toolbar menus or buttons, I get an error msg preceeded by a yellow triangle that says the Macro cannot be found or has been disabled because of my security settings. I have checked the settings and they are on "Medium". Even when it asks me to disable or enable macros, and I choose enable, I still can't save. These seem to be the only buttons/actions that are unavailable to me apart from a defunct Goldmine Menu item that wasn't removed when I de-installed Goldmine. Any suggestions?

Hi Kathy,

Take a look under Tools/Macro/Macros and see if there is a FileSave or
FileSaveAs macro. If so then this is the source of the problem. If you
select the macro and the Edit command is available then click Edit and
place an 'X' in front of the macro( procedure) name to prevent it from
intercepting the built-in command.

If the Edit command is not available then the macros are stored in a
global template. You can determine which template by modifying the
"Macros in" list. Global templates are located in one of two Startup
folders: Office\Startup or Word Startup.

The Office\Startup folder is located in the Office installation path
and the Word Startup location can be determined by going to
Tools/Options/File Locations. Or you can use Windows Search and search
for the template file name.

Once found then locate the template and move it out of the folder to
prevent it from loading when Word starts.

Regarding your Goldmine menu, if the menu isn't removed once you find
the template containing the macros then go to Tools/Templates and
Add-ins and see if there is a template for Goldmine in the list. If so
it can be removed from the Startup folder using the same steps as I
provided above.

However I suspect the add-in modified your Normal.dot since the
commands are no longer any functional. To rectify, go to
Tools/Customize and with the Customize dialog box open, drag the menu
item off the menu to delete it.

I have the exact same problems and I don't understand anything that you are
saying to do. I've tried following along and can't figure out what you are
suggesting to do.
For example:
1. the only place there is a filesave macro is in word commands, and you
can't edit it.
2. The startup folders you refer to only have a pdf template. Nothing else.
3. Can'f find any reference to Goldmine when looking for menus.

But this is exactly the problem I have. I can't use filesave or filesaveas
andI have this goldmine menu that doesn't work either. I want the filesave &
filesaveas stuff to work and I want the Goldmine stuff gone.

HELP!

If you have a FileSave macro then open the "Macros in" drop down and
note the templates. Then select each one until the FileSave macro
appears. Note you will find a FileSave macro under "Word Commands" so
disregard this one. Once you find the template then use Windows Search
to locate it.
