Macro language error

I've got a computer running Office XP that is giving me the following error:

The function you are attempting to run contains macros or content that
requires Marco language support. When this software was installed, you (or
your administrator) chose not to install support for macros or controls.

I can't figure out what is causing this, when starting Word this message
appears 3 or 4 times, and then every time you open a new document it warns
you once. The uses claims they didn't do anything. Any help would be
gratefully appreciated.
