Macro Question

I receive large spreadsheets with numerous built-in macros from
companies I work with. These macros will not work when I open them
using MS Office/Excel. I have been advised to go to
Tools>Macros>Support and select Medium Security. Obviously they think
I am using a PC. That begs the question, though, how do I change the
level of security for macros on a Mac G4?

MacXL doesn't have Security Levels, instead, to prevent automatic
running of macros, choose Preferences/Security, check the Warn before
opening files that contain macros checkbox. After that, any files
containing macros will present a dialog for you to choose whether to
enable the macros or not.

If there are ActiveX controls that run the macros (i.e., controls from
the WinXL Control Toolbox), they will not work in MacXL since ActiveX is
a Windows-only technology. The controls will be drawn, but they won't
have any effect when you click on them.

Do the macros run when you start them using Tools/Macros/Macro?

No, they do not. No macros visible when selecting Tools>Macro>Macros.

I have the same issue. Strange thing happened to me though. I
downloaded the Mac Office test drive and opened the Excel doc and saved
it as a an Excel 97-04 doc, repopened it and it worked fine. I just
bought the full version(400 bucks) and now it doesn't work at all.
I'm trying a few other tricks and will let you know if any of them
work.

regards,
JV
