Macro questions

Richie

Hi all,

I am new to macros and have been recording them of late. I have a couple of
questions to ask.

(1) Can you move a macro already created from one PC to another ?

(2) After creating a macro and go to edit it I get this error: Cannot edit a
macro on a hidden workbook. Unhide the workbook using the unhide command.

What is it refering to when it says hidden workbook. Or is it referring to a
file that is not open.

(3) The macros I create are marked for the personal.xls but will want to
move it to another PC as I am recording it for another person.

Niall,

The macro lives in a workbook. If it was a recorded macro, it might be in Personal.xls. Do
Window - Unhide, and unhide that workbook. Now you can edit it, or take it to another
machine by writing it to a CD or diskette or flash drive or across your network or
something, and take it to the other machine.

If you go into the VBE (Alt-f11 is one way), you should be able to edit your
macros from there--after selecting the project and the correct module.

The workbook won't have to be unhidden.

==============

Be careful with sharing files named personal.xls.

If any of the recipients have their own personal.xls file, then your file may
overwrite their files. And if they have important stuff in their files, you
could cause heart-ache and pain.

Instead close excel.
Find that personal.xls file (use windows start button|Search)
And name it something else (RichUtils.xls)

Then either move that file (or copy that file) to the network share.

Tell your users to open that file whenever they need to use the macros.
