Macro recorder for "data graphics" functions

In Visio 2007, data graphics related commands get disabled if I start
recording new macro.
Is it a bug, a feature, or behavior "by design"?

Thanks Al,

Actually, my initial concern (the reason why I started macro recorder)
was to find out if there is a way to create a "graphics-item" (not a
"data-graphics-enabled" shape, but the "graphic-item" itself)
programmatically from scratch. I was unable to find any way to do that
(beside from starting from existing graphics-item). Is it really the
case? Or have I missed something?
