macro security cannot be changed

I have an XP pro computer running Office 2000 that I uninstalled on
our network and installed Office 2003. My user has some Excel
documents that have macros. When she tries to run them, she errors out
and is directed to the security settings. She changes the settings in
the security tab from high to medium but that setting is not retained.
She exits and comes back in and the setting is back to high and will
not allow her to run the macro. I never use macros and infrequently
use Excel, so I thought I would get your help. What should I do? She
is an administrator on her computer if that helps.

Once you change this setting, it should stay changed.

Mine always did for xl2k (and for xl2002) and does for xl2003.

But since this setting is stored in the Windows Registry, maybe she doesn't have
permissions to change the registry (or that branch of the registry).

I'd talk to my IT folks and explain the problem. Maybe you'll get lucky and
they'll help you/her.

I'm not a windows expert, but I thought that being the admin would be
sufficient. Are you sure she's logging on using the admin id?

Exits what? The menu or the program?

I use Excel 2002. I have to change the setting, close Excel, then restart
Excel.
