macro storage

For my Excel, I have the Personal file in a shared folder, and then in my
Application Data\Microsoft\Excel\XLSTART
I have a link to this file. So every time I start Excel, I have the use of
the most recent version of the personal.xls file, which contains all my
macros.

Is there a similar thing I can do with the normal template in 2007? My
problem is I have macros for global use, share three computers, and don't to
have to recreate the macros on each machine.

You create another template in which you store the macros and then save that
template in the Word Startup folder ...\Application
Data\Microsoft\Word\Start. It will then be treated as an addin and the
macros will be available for use with any document. For the other
computers, save a copy of that template in the same place on each of them.

Thanks much, Doug. I know it seems like a simple question, but how do I save
a template in 2007?

Also, am I understanding correctly that my docs can still use the normal
template, but that having this other one in start will add whatever is in it
on top of the normal.dot settings?

Click on the Pizza Button and then select SaveAs.

Yes, the macros in the template that you save in the Start folder will be
available to all documents.

Boris,

Try to put your macros in a template other than Normal.dot. The Word
organizer can help your transfer macros and other things. I am not sure how
to get to the organizer dialog in Word2007. Older versions use the menu
Tools/Templates and Add-Ins... Click on Organizer button. In the dialog, you
can close and open files to transfer between.
