Macro to Save a shared document under a sequential Number

Hi there,

I am hoping that someone will be able to help me with my problem:

I have a template in word that is for orders. This document is shared as
several different people will be using it at the same time when all is up and
running.

What I need the macro to do is when the document is saved, it saves it to a
specific folder as the following available number and then puts that number
in the order number field in the document.

E.G - the folder is Cleaning orders: In the folder there is already 2
documents saved: document numbers 40000 & 40001, so what I want to happen is
when I click on save, it will see that then next available number to save is
40002. It will then save the template as this and insert this number in to
the "job Order Number" field in the document.

Is this possible?

Any help will be greatly appreciated.

Many thanks

You should be able to modify the code at
http://www.gmayor.com/automatic_numbering_documents.htm to achieve this. It
is then a relatively simple matter to add the code to save the document with
the number as the filename. Note that you don't save the template as
anything it is the documents created from the template that you save.
