macrobutton problems

I have been trying to create a fax template that includes macrobutton check
boxes. To do this I used one of the existing Word templates. When I re-
saved the file as a template file, the macrobuttons stop working even
though the field attributes appear to be the same. Then I saved the file
as a DOC file and it worked fine. I sent it to my client and now they
can't use the macrobuttons even though their macro secuurity is set to high
and they selected "enable macros" when asked.

These macrobuttons seem pretty tempermental as I have yet to find a
consistant situation where they either work or never work. It's a guessing
game. I must be missing something here. Any ideas?

Where did you save the macro code? By default it ends up in normal.dot, not
in the document; so they don't work for your client because they don't have
your normal.dot.

I wasn't aware you could "save" the macro code. Perhaps you could tell me
how. In the mean time, using Word's help, I was able to figure out how to
get the macro into normal.dot. That explains why the templates I saved
where about half the size -- something's missing. How do you save macro
info within a file without modifying normal.dot?
