Macros added when saving?

J

I launch Word (v.X) with an original, clean document and it opens
correctly. With no changes made to the document, by me, I close it and
get the save message. If I say yes, the next time I open this
document, I get the Macros Enable/Disable message. I cannot figure
this out. The original, clean document does not do this. I am not, to
my knowledge, attaching a macro. I need any advice on how to prevent
this from happening. This just starting today with no changes made to
the computer.

Running 10.3.8 on an iMac.

Good to get your feedback, Jim!

Just a minor point: I realize when you've referred to the Normal template as
"Normal.dot" it's just a figure of speech, and maybe even unconscious if you
have come from a Windows environment, but I'll just take this opportunity to
mention to anyone following this thread that in the Mac environment ".dot"
should never be put after "Normal" for Word's Normal template.

* A SUGGESTION ‹ WAIT FOR CONSIDERED ADVICE: If you post a question, keep
re-visiting the newsgroup for several days after the first response comes
in. Sometimes it takes a few responses before the best or complete solution
is proposed; sometimes you'll be asked for further information so that a
better answer can be provided. Good tips about getting the best out of
posting are at http://word.mvps.org/FindHelp/Posting.htm (if you use Safari
and it gives you a blank page the first time, you may need to hit the
circular arrow icon -- "Reload the current page" -- a few times).

Usually this is the sign of a macro virus. If so, the document that
carries the virus can still be on your computer even after you clean out
Normal.dot, so keep an eye out, because if you open that document again,
the problem will return. m.
