Macros and Visual Basics Editor don't work

Macros no longer work in my Word program, even when started from disc. Word's dialog box says that Visual Basic Editor could not be opened because 1) not enough memory to load libraries; 2) files were deleted or moved from orig. installation location; or 3) it's not installed

Since I started from disc, I don't think that it's not installed can be the answer. But lack of memory doesn't seem logical (the G4 still has plenty), and I haven't intentionally done anything to Visual Basics' location

A Mac thing? (I've also posted to the Mac newsgroup.) A Word thing? Any ideas or tips would be great to help me on the right road to fixing this
