Macros are enabled on my WORD 2000 program, How do I turn it off?

When I try to type a note I get this:

I can't figure out what is wrong or what I did.

I doubt that this has anything to do with macros. If you are saying that
there are dots underneath your text, then no doubt you have inadvertently
formatted the text as Hidden. Select the text and press Ctrl+Shift+H to or
Ctrl+Spacebar to remove the formatting (or go to Format | Font and clear the
check box). If you're saying you see dots when you press the spacebar, see
