macros disabled

Dave Smith

hi, word has started putting up a message on startup explaining that macros
have been disabled in this project, whether it is an existing document or a
new document. i have tried as many help subjects as i can, "reinstalled"
office, and physically removed office and reinstalled. nothing seems to
remove the message.

one other thing is that on new documents, the cursor starts right at the top
of the page, i cant access the handle for the margin thingy, and if i change
the margin settings in page setup there is no change to the margin.

thanks for your time,

Dave

First the margin problem is not with the margin at all but with the view.
When you print or print preview, you do have the margins that you have set.
See http://sbarnhill.mvps.org/wordfaqs/WhiteSpace.htm.

The macros message almost certainly has to do with an Add-In. First thing I
would try is to set your macro security so that it trust installed templates
and Add-Ins. This is a checkbox option on the second tab of the Macro
Security dialog box. If this is unchecked, check it and see if the message
goes away. Do _not_ change your macro security to low! If checking this
makes the messages stop, you are dealing with an Add-In that is doing things
right. If not, the Add-In is probably in the Office Startup folder instead
of the Word Startup folder.
http://word.mvps.org/FAQs/Customization/CheckIfAddinsInstalled.htm Move the
Add-In out of this folder. If you want something it does for you, put it in
the Word Startup folder.
