Macros for figure borders

I have a document that I want to place a solid blue border around and blue shadowing. I tried to record a macro, but once I name the new macro and start recording, it goes to the text cursor and won't let me select the figure so I can record the steps in the macro. Is there a way to create a macro, using the macro record function, to assign a custom outline to the figure? Or is there a Theme or Styles method of doing that?

If you want to apply the formatting to the whole document, you don't need to select anything while recording your macro - the functionality you want to record is available on the Ribbon's Page Layout tab.

If you want to apply the formatting to selected content, select that content before recording your macro.
