Macros in 2007

I have four users with Office Pro 2007 and many with Office Pro 2003. We
have many macros created in a previous versions of Excel.
The problem--we added the macro buttons to the Quick Access Toolbar, and
the macros run fine provided the macro file (allmacros.xls) is open, which is
not convenient and often causes conflicts on the network with other users.
What am I missing or something I can do to resolve this?

I appreciate any input/advice.

That is no different from 2003, the macros workbook has to be open to run
the macros. If you put it in the XLStart directory, it will open
automatically, which may be what you have in 2003.
