macros - inserting a list box

am trying to insert a list box into a spreadsheet. would
like the list box to appear when user clicks on cell and
disappear when no longer the current cell.

For a starter, Data - Validation, using List, may be perfect for your
requirement.

Try looking at Data Validation. Your alternative is to use a user form, but
I think validation will do the job.
