Macros Virus

Version: 2004 Operating System: Mac OS X 10.4 (Tiger) Processor: Power PC I have been getting a virus prompt for some time now on all my word docs. I have the option to open the doc with or w/o macros. If I choose with, then it most often crashes and i have to reopen about 20 or 30 times before it will allow me into the doc. to work on it. It will open if I choose disable.

I don't know anything about marco as far as working/recording etc. so I must presume this is a virus issue and not a regular macro, whatever they are anyway.

I am interested in getting rid of the problem, however, i have about 400 docs that previously have been used with this problem and I need to go in and work on all of them at different times. If I clear the problem with a virus scan of some kind, won't the problem return any time I open up an old word doc?

I can't even attach a word doc in an email anymore, the email just never gets to it's destination if there is an infected doc within and it doesn't even get returned to me . For now I'm saving word docs as Acrobat files and sending them that way or through skype.

It is a right pain in the neck and i'd like to resolve this if possible.
I also wonder if I get a new laptop in the future with a new word program, will this problem return any time I open up those old docs
and then re-infect my new laptop/word prgm?

Any advice would be greatly appreciated.
