Macros/Visual Basics don't work

Macros no longer work in my Word program, even when started from disc. Word's error msg. says that Visual Basics Editor could not be opened because 1) not enough memory to load libraries; 2) files were deleted or moved from orig. installation location; or 3) it's not installed

Since I started from disc, I don't think that it's not installed can be the answer. But lack of memory doesn't seem logical (the G4 still has plenty), and I haven't intentionally done anything to Visual Basics' location

A Mac thing? A Word thing? Any ideas or tips would be great to help me on the right road to fixing this. Thanks-

Probably a corrupted preference file:

Drag the following files to your desktop, one by one, with Word and all
other Office applications quit when you do it:

* Carbon Registration Database

* Microsoft Office Settings (10)

* Word Settings (10)

You will find all of them in ~/Library/Preferences/Microsoft

The files will be rebuilt when you restart Word.

If that does not work, run the Office Remover tool from the Office CD, then
re-install using the installer, then repair permissions using disk Utility,
then re-apply all of the Service Releases in the order they were issued.

Hope this helps
