macros

Unless you're using the word "macro" incorrectly, you're taking the wrong
approach to document creation. For each specific type of document, you
should create a new template. Much of what you're creating with your macros
can probably be put in the template, but if you have a UserForm to insert
data in the document, it will require an AutoNew macro to show the UserForm
and a macro to insert the collected data in the document.

Not like beating a dead horse...I just want to have a
toolbar button for the three documents I use the most.
Before, with Word 2000, I just created three macros and my
letterhead and fax would pop up. Most of the time I use
Autotext for small things but it seemed easier to create a
macro from a regular saved document. This is what
happens...I create the macro from my fax document already
saved on my system, and then create a second macro based
on my letterhead document. When I click the first toolbar
button I created, it opens my fax document; if I have
another miscellaneous document opened and then later try
to click on the second macro button, the document is
exactly the same as the miscellaneous document. I tried
the suggestion re: looking at the normal.dot, but the
document is blank. I know I can do this, because we have
created everybody elses macros using the same procedure in
Word 2002. Any other ideas??? I would really appreciate
it!!!

Hi Kyahr

Can we back up a bit here? How did you create the macros? How were the successful macros created on other machines? And, where are
the macros stored -- in normal.dot, in another template?

Maybe paste the relevant bits of macro code into your reply (don't attach the file) and someone may be able to see what's going
wrong.

Hope this helps.
