Macros

I frequently get a message asking me to enable or disable macros when I
open a Word document (Office X, Mac OS 10.4 Tiger). Is there a way to
turn that off?

Disable the "Warn before opening a file that contains macros" setting in the
security section of Word's preferences. Macros can be potentially harmful,
so do this only if you really have to.

Michael is correct: you should NEVER disable this warning :)

It will not appear if the template containing the macros is in one of your
"Trusted" locations: either your User Templates location as specified in
Word>Preferences>File Locations, or in your workgroup Templates location.

If you see the warning for a document, it's ALWAYS an indication that there
is a risk. Unfortunately, the warning fires if the document has been
customised in ANY way, so you will get it if all they have done is change a
keyboard command.

But you will also get it if the document contains a macro that will steal
all your bank account details, email them to the crooks, then wipe your hard
disk.

I can put up with a few nags about the former to be sure I see the latter!

cheers
