Made a mistake but how to edit???

R

Rog

I am sure I am missing something here.

I am doing address labels in Word 2000.

When I close the Mail Merge Helper it creates the template showing the field
names and positions for the whole page. If I want to edit the layout it
seems that I have to go through the entire process in Mail Merger Helper
again or edit ach label individually.

Is there a way of going back to the original field layout in Mail Merge
Helper, making the change and the recreating the whole page?

Thanks for any help.

Hi Rog,

No, you're not missing anything. Your observation is correct and, in Word 2000
and earlier that's exactly what you have to do.

One of the (few) things I really like about Word 2002/2003 mail merge is the
way you can "propagate labels" - update all the labels based on the example in
the first one.

Hi Rog,
at least I can stop trying now :)
Yeah, I know the feeling :)

The only other thing you can do is copy the contents of the
first cell, paste into the second - WITHOUT removing the
NEXT field at the beginning of this cell. The copy/paste
cell 2 into all the other cells. Depending on how much
formatting work you've done, this may or may not be faster
than starting over with setup again.
