Mail Accounts Tab Fails to Operate

B

BobRob

Helo,
Advice please. I have had to reinstall Office Pro 2003 on my laptop and I
imported my .Pst file from my PC. All went well until I installed Outlook
Connector for my Hotmail account. When I press the e-mail accounts tab I get
the following error message

Operation failed due to a registery or installation problem. Restart Oulook
and try again . If the problem persists, please re-install.

I have re-installed having un-installed but continue to get the same error
message. My contacts and calander are all properly displayed. My data file
"New Personal Folders" is in the correct location.

What should I try next?

Importing is never the proper way to move Outlook data from one instance to
another. Simply reuse th4e existing PST in the new mail profile.

I'd start with a new mail profile and set up the accounts again, using your
existing PST (not the Hotmail PST, but the default PST).

Brian,

Many thanks for your helpful suggestion. creating a new profile worked fine.

You did say "Importing is never the proper way to move Outlook data from one
instance to another". What I do is to copy the Pst file from my PC to my
laptop (occasionally vice versa when I am away from home). They have same
name in both computers so the PC file overides the laptop file. Have you any
other suggested ways of doing this transfer

You're welcome.

You're describing copying the PST which has nothing to do with import/export.
It's how you get that PST connected to the mail profile that's the important
thing. It's also important that you do NOT overwrite a PST currently
connected to a mail profile with another of the same name. You run a good
risk of corrupting the mail profile. See if something here is helpful:
