Mail groups from 2004 to 2008?

I have a user who had several mail group lists in E 2004. After upgrading to
2008, none of these lists show in her new profile. How can I recover these
for her?

On my own machine I tried copying the Mailing Lists document from the 2004
Identities folder to the 2008 Identities folder, and my old groups did not
subsequently show in E 2008.

Did you upgrade? Does the rest of her local Address Book show up?

The "Mailing Lists" file is information from the Mailing List manager. Address
Book data is stored in the "Database" file.

This was an upgrade. I have since found out that an import from the old
profile was attempted and failed because the old one was corrupted. I was
told "fixing it was not an option." Don't know what that's supposed to mean.

I get all this second hand, unfortunately. I told them the user will have to
recreate the groups.

This does remind me of an old gripe with 2004 that still exists with 2008,
however. Groups that I create in my Exchange account using Outlook do not
show up in my contacts in Entourage.

I wouldn't accept that as a final answer, there are options for recovering
damaged databases - starting with the Database Utility.

Make sure you submit this gripe to Microsoft.
