Mail Mege - ODBC - DDE

I succesfully created a mail merge in MS Word with a query in MS Access that
has been working for quite a few months and today it stopped working
correctly. There are only two computers on our network where the merge works
now. Normally I would enter into Access, open the query and then click
"Merge it with MS Word". (I am using 2003 by the way) and that was it, I
would be in the word file with the connection established. Now when I merge
the file I get a window that asks me to select a table and no option to
select queries unless I click the "Options" button and select "views". If I
select the query I get an error that says "could not open the data source".
I looked up the error on MS support and tried clicking the "confirm
conversion at open" box (in Word) and that didn't do anything. When I try to
merge it on other machines I get the option of choosing ODBC or DDE and if I
choose DDE it will work fine. I think that on some of the machines it
automatically chooses ODBC but I can't figure out how to change that option.
