I am having a slight problem and have tried searching through existin
posts but could not quite find a solution.
I would like to set up a Mail Merge which enables me to include to th
CREATEDATE of the Merged document -as well as- a date in the futur
(depending on the date the merged document is viewed).
Let's say I have two letters in one document. Both letters have a DAT
field, so they will display the current date when printed. This i
fine.
The first letter says something along the lines of:
"Please respond to this letter by (2 weeks+date)".
I would then like the second letter to say: I wrote to you recently o
(CREATEDATE of merged document), but received no response, etc. etc.
So, if I input my data and merge into a new document today, I woul
like for the first letter to give the person 2 weeks to respond. Then
if I haven't received a response, I would open the document again in
weeks and print the second page which would be dated correctly an
refer to the date the first letter was sent (which is why I need th
CREATEDATE).
(Sorry for being long-winded).
The problem I have encountered is that after I merge the document, th
CREATEDATE field refers to the date the Main Document was created an
not when the merged Form Letters document was. In the merge transition
the field is lost and I am left with plain text.
The same thing happens when I try to refer to a date, say 2 weeks i
the future.
Just as the DATE is updated daily, I would like the "DATE + 2 Weeks" i
the merged document to update daily.
Is there any way to do this?
Before I merge, I have no problem. I can right click and Toggle Fiel
and it updates. Once I merge, I lose this ability.
(The reason I need it to work like this is because I have more than tw
letters and am sending out more than one reminder, but left all th
details out as they are unnecessary).
This is very frustrating because throughout all my merges, the DAT
field remains a field and never becomes text.
Thank you in advance for your input.
btw I have been using other guides I have found online to create futur
dates, and do not require assistance with this :
posts but could not quite find a solution.
