mail merge corrupts Excel column order

Mail merge with Office XP 2002 and Excel data. Resulting
columns'order is changed after data are imported into
Outlook format. Any known explanations or workarounds?
Newbie with Office XP 2002 after using Word 97. Thanks.

My guess is that the "column order" you refer to is the sequence of column
names you see in the "Recipients" dialog box in Word. If so, yes, it'e
irritating but as far as I know there is no way to change the sequence of
coulmns except perhaps by using column names that are completlely different
from the ones that Word recognises.

If not, please try to be more specific about the problem you are seeing.
