Mail-merge Data Source

I set up my mergefields onto my main document. When I
type all info in the datasouce then go to merge two of the
fields that I typed info. in come up blank. When I view
the data source that is blank also. I have to re-type the
info then merge again then it is ok. The help index
suggests that the fields are locked so I tried their
solution, which is, pressing Ctrl + Shift + F11 at the
same time then F9. This does not work.

Which version of Word?

What is the data source? (Have you set it up during the mail merge process,
or did you set it up before?)

I hope I am saying this right. I am working on a
political campaign. The data source is a list of names,
addresses, registration dates and party affiliations.
When I merge the registration date and party affiliation
is blank. Thank You

What I was really trying to find out is what format the data source is in -
is it a Word document with a table in it, an Excel spreadsheet, a
comma-delimited text file, a table in an Access database, or what?

Unfortunately I'm about to disappear for a while so probably won't pick up
your reply, so if no-one else picks up on this question I suggest you post
it again and re-state the version of Word, what format the data source is,
and anything else you think may be relevant.

HI Crazylin,

Remove the space that you have between "registration" and "date" and between
"party" and "affiliation" in the data source. Later versions of Word will
automatically replace the space with _, but I suspect that 97 will not.

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps
