Mail Merge Error Message

Chris Z.

Hi all,

When I try to perform a mail merge in Microsoft Word
2000, I receive the following error: Error generating
merged document: unable to execute merge because a valid
version of Microsoft Word is not installed. This feature
requires Microsoft Word 2000 (version 9), XP (version
10), or later. Error in loading DLL. I've never seen
this error before & I'm very curious about it. Any help
would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance.

Same here :) Actually, it sounds to me as if you have some
kind of ADDIN that's trying to take over mail merge for you.

If you follow these steps in order to start Word in "Safe
mode", does the message go away during the "safe" session?
- right-click a Word icon
- choose "Properties"
- in the Target box, make sure there's a single space after
...winword.exe then type: /a
- OK, close the dialog box
- start Word using this icon (note that your customizations
will NOT be active)
