mail merge formatting

I have a Publisher brochure merged with an Excel spreadsheet. Many of the
fields go into a table. The cells in Excel are formatted as currency but
don't show up as currency in the Publisher document. I can't find how to
format the table or the table cells in Publisher as currency.

Try exporting the Excel sheet as a CSV file. This should allow the
formatting to be preserved on import.

When I try to use the CSV file I get the following error: "The operation
cannot be completed because of dialog or database engine failures. Please try
again later." I got the same message when I tried to use the Access table the
Excel spreadsheet is based on.
