Mail merge from Outlook creates an additional blank Word documenteach time

Hi:

Only in the past few months, whenever I do a mail merge from Outlook
to an existing document, Word also opens/creates an untitled blank
document. We may do up to 8 mail merges in a day - really annoying
now to have to close off each document. Am I missing something?
