Mail-merge from Outlook

My PC has recently been upgraded to XP O/S and Office
Apps. When I tried a mail-merge in Word I received an
error 'This operation cannot be completed because of a
dialog or database engine failure'. The MS Knowledge Base
artcile 322215 recommendaing installing the latest
version of MDAC and running Detect and Repair in Word.
This I did, but now when I try to use Outlook, I receive
the Outlook installation wizard. Have I lost all my
Outlook contacts, calendars entries and e-mails ? I would
appreciate hearing from anyone who can advise how I
progress from here.

You really need to ask this in an Outlook group.

(Off the top of my head I would say "look for files with extension .pst on
your system and ensure they are backed up" before doing anything else, but
in fact I think /I/ would ask in an Outlook group if I faced this
situation).
