Mail Merge - how to access home addresses

Cheryl

I am trying to create a mrkting campaign from my business contacts &
accounts. I would like to use several client's home addresses for the mail
merge - however the database fields don't allow this option. I need to be
able to access clients home addresses for mailings, as items often need to be
directed to their home vs. their business. I have clicked the box "use as
mailing address" when entering client information into the home address
field, however this does not seem to work.
Please advise on how I can do this.

Thank-you

Hi Cheryl,

I'm having the same exact frustration! Argh.

For most business contacts (1200) I only have their home address as I market
to their homes. I've found a work around by exporting a list to excel and
then merging from that but this is time consuming and not very streamlined
for on-the-fly campaigns. I'm betting a good portion of Biz Contact Mgr
users have only home address and would want this funcationallity for their
campaigns.

I hope we hear about a fix to this soon!

I have the same question but would like to use the other field. Help! There
has to be a answer...otherwise Why would BCM have the fields along with the
ability to say it is the mailing address --

I have had some success in discovering a way to make mail merges work with
home addresses.
This is what I figured out (from sifting through all the postings on this
site!) & getting some IT support.
The bad news - I don't know if it will work with marketing campaigns. You
can still use the filters & create the groups for marketing campaigns - you
just can't mail merge with home addresses.
The good news - to get mail filters & mail merges to work with home
addresses you need filter the contacts in BCM directly ...
Choose where you want to be - either Accounts of Business Contacts
1. Go to current view
2. Then customize current view
3. When this screen pops up - go to filter & choose how you want to filter
your contacts (use the Advanced tab for more detailed searches)
4. Once you have selected the filters you want, go to the Tools tab
5. On the tools tab, go to mail merge
6. check for the box to use selected contacts
7. proceed with merge
8. when you open up your document, use the top of the "insert merge field'
tab & then scroll down through the database tabs - you should now see Home
address options.
Hopefully this helps & saves some time!
