Mail Merge in a Macro

G

GrandMaMa

I have opened my Word Document, and Set Recording A new Macro, Opened My
Excel WorkBook and stopped the Recording of my Macro.

Previous Users indicated that Code would be placed herer for me to start
with, however only a comment "This Macro is Recorded by Granny" is shown.

We have Work2000 and Excel 2002. Please do not ask me to upgrade Word
because I will end up starting a war with over 750 Language Arts Teachers.

I know how to do the Calculations to get the information from the WorkBook,
but I have no clue as to where to start in the Macro to Start My Mail Merge
to print Labels for mailings to parents.

If I can get a little idea of where to start I would appreciate it.

Thanks in Advance!

Granny

No need to upgrade, but you can't record a macro in one program to
manipulate another, so as soon as you went to launch Excel Word was "left
hanging". IOW, you can only record actions taken within the scope of the
program doing the recording. What you were trying to do *can* be done, but
not by Word... and it's probably far more trouble than it's worth since it
really isn't necessary in the first place.

In Word's Tools menu you'll find a feature for Mail Merge for which Excel
files can be used as the record source for the merge. The differing versions
don't matter. If you're not familiar with the feature you might start by
looking it up in Word Help. Then take a look at the information you'll find
here:

More is available from the links on this page4:

Post back separately with any specific questions.

The suggestion meant start Excel, start recording, open another Excel file
(workbook), then look at the code in Excel by pressing ALT/F11. The code
should have shown an 'open' sequence with full path to the new file
(workbook) you opened.

CyberTaz's info is good, too.
