Mail Merge into Hyperlink, and the 255 character limit

Casper

Hello! Hopefully someone here can help me -- I'm trying
to mail-merge an html document, and part of the merge
needs to happen in some hyperlink strings.

1) I cannot insert the field into the hyperlink string
because it tells me I've exceeded the 255 character limit
(I need to exceed the 255 character limit - workaround?)
and

2) even NOT exceeding the 255 character limit, it
doesn't seem to merge with fields placed in hyperlinks.

HELP??

Hi Casper,

I know of no way around the 255 character limit, if this is
a Hyperlink field limit.

As to specifying the hyperlink address (and with it the
address as the display text - there is no choice about
that), it can be done, but it's tricky.

Set up the entire main merge doc, except the Hyperlink.
Insert a Hyperlink field using Ctrl+F9 to insert the
brackets, then typing Hyperlink. Insert the Mergefield the
same way. Do NOT try to use the mail merge facility!

do NOT try to toggle field codes off. Merge *immediately* to
a new document. Ctrl+A, F9. And only now can you Alt+F9 to
see the results.
