Hi all. I've searched the archives and found that other people have
had problems getting mail merge to work when running Word/Excel in a
network home directory environment. Here's the setup:
10.3.2 server
10.3.2 clients
Office 10.1.5
Users' home directories are automounted and have the path format of :
"/private/var/automount/Network/Servers/mail/Volumes/data/Staff/Username"
When you try and 'Get Data' under the Data merge manager pallette, you
get the message 'Word was unable to open the data source'
The source file for the merge is an excel document.
If the source and main merge document are copied to the local HD
(/Users/Shared for example) then all works fine.
I know this problem is all over the archives, but there has never been
a definite answer for a fix.
Any suggestions before I pay £185+ VAT to Microsoft Support for a
'fix'?
many thanks in advance
