I can make the merge print all 84 labels, but only if I add four 'false' records numbered 85 to 88 on the Excel database.
How can I make it create the last page of labels when the page would not be a 'full' page of labels?
An ordinary label merge will output as many labels as you have data for, regardless of whether all the labels on the last page get used. Are you actually executing the merge, rather than just previewing it?
I am actually executing the merge (but not printing it). The execution gives me ten pages, each of eight labels. The last four labels just fail to appear.
That behaviour isn't normal. Have you tried repairing the Office installation (via Windows Control Panel > Programs > Programs & Features > Microsoft Office (version) > Change > Repair)?
