Help!

I used the Mail Merge Feature almost every day since we
do lots of mailings at work. It worked slick as a whistle
for about 2 years. But now my Mail Merge Command in Tools
disappeared for no obvious reason. I tried to create a
Mail Merge in Macros but for the Insert Database Field I
only get google-di-gab (yyyy###dudy) etc.

I've also tried to reinstall Word & Works 2000 but it did
not change anything!! Does someone know what my problem
is??

Dear Graham,

Yes I'm merging from Works into Word. I've followed your
advise and edited the Registry (deleted the DATA file.)
After that I still had no line for Mail Merge on my
Tools. So I did the winword.exe /a and it restored my
line in Tools but after I "Open Data Source" and "Find My
Works Database" I still get
the «ÐÏàáþÿþÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿÿ» stuff in
my "Insert Database Field". What more can I do!!????

I've called the person that sold and set up our Computers
and Network System, but he also is at the end of his rope
with this problem.

Hope someone can give me advise to fix our problem. It
paralizes the whole office.

I regret my knowledge of Works is scant. Try the Works newsgroups where the
necessary expertise will be found.

I had the same problem and found a solution after 3 hours of tearing my hair out
Try this
Under 'View' there may be a checked off choice that shouldn't be checked besides 'page layout' and 'ruler'. Anything else may give you different choices under the tool menu and may eliminate 'mail merge'. Unclikck anything under 'view' that looks like you really don't need. Good luck
