Mail merge not working inoutlook 2002

I'm trying to send a mail merge in outlook 2002 using some contacts in an
excel spreadsheet. However when I click ok at the end it just flicks through
the emails but doesn;t send any. What could I be doing wrong?

If I try and send as plain txt instead of html it then trys and sends from
outlook express which I use for a totally different account. Is this a clue
to my issues? I've made Outlook my default email client , think ing this
would help but it doesn;t seem to have made a difference.

Without a complete and accurate description of what you are doing, we could
have no clue. There are a countless variety of steps you could be using. An
Excel spreadsheet does not contain Contacts.
