Mail Merge - One to Many

D

Dorian Chalom

I am looking at developing a program in VFP that will generate a group of
records and then through the program I want to do a merge with a word
document using the records selected.

However part of the data selected is a group of records per person. i.e. a
invoice if you will.

Can this be done?

Hi Dorian,

I would do it all in the database. Word doesn't do it very well at all.
But, eee the "Multiple items per condition" item under the "Special merges"
section of fellow MVP CIndy Meister's website at

Please post any further questions or followup to the newsgroups for the
benefit of others who may be interested. Unsolicited questions forwarded
directly to me will only be answered on a paid consulting basis.

Hope this helps

Hi Dorian,
But I would like the user to be able to design the letter in Word.
Word simply isn't designed to handle one-to-many. There are three
basic ways to approach the problem, none of them particular easy for
users to implement. They're described in the "Special merges"
section of my website.
