Mail Merge sort-filter not hold parameters

A Word mail merge document has an Excel spreadsheet as its data source. To
filter the records, I use the the "mail merge recipients" function and once
I see that the correct records are chosen, I click OK and return to the mail
merge form. However, the parameters change by duplicating the parameters and
adding the OR operand to one of the duplicated filters! Therefore I do not
get the desired result.

Any solution?

Well as MailMerge varies between versions of Office and you haven't told us
what you are using, it is difficult to say. However, for excellent
information on MailMerge, see

Thank you for the link and I'll read the document shortly. I'm working in
Office 2003 (Windows 2000). I'll let you know if it is helpful. Again,
thank you.

I did not find the answer to my problem in the link provided, but maybe I
didn't articulate the question well enough. In the Mail Merge Recipient
sort/filter parameters (Advance function) I selected the following:

Field: NAME Comparison: Is not Blank
and Field: DC Comparison: Is blank

I clicked on OK to close the dialog box and saved the document immediately.
The merge result wasn't accurate because the Mail Merge Recipient function
parameters changed to:

Field: NAME Comparison: Is not Blank
and Field: NAME Comparison: Is blank
and Field: DC Comparison: Is not Blank
or Field: DC Comparison: Is blank

Any suggestions?
