mail merge trouble: documents with live links

I am merging over 300 items from an Excel spreadsheet into a Word doc. Most
of these items have a web and/or email address included.

Whie they are live links in Excel, I can't find a way to keep them live
through the mail merge.

Is there anything that I can do in order to keep myself from having to make
up to 600 links live in my end document?

Please help!
